Rambler Wood Products to convert former furniture building into first-of-its-kind indoor stave mill and wood products facility RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Rambler Wood Products will invest $7.6 million in the Town of Saint Paul to establish a new, value-added wood products manufacturing facility in the former Bush Furniture Industries building, creating 73 new high-wage jobs. The nearly 300,000-square-foot facility will make Rambler Wood Products the first business of its kind to operate entirely indoors, allowing for full-capacity production year-round. Virginia became the first state in the country to pass a workplace safety standard specific to COVID-19 on July 15.  It includes hazard assessment, communication and training requirements, depending on the types of tasks employees perform at work. The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (“DOLI”) passed its Emergency Temporary Standard for Infectious Disease Prevention related to COVID-19 after months of deliberation and revision.  The standard is expected to become effective on July 27, 2020.  Virginia is a state-plan state for OSHA purposes, so workplace safety rules are handled as part of the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health …

We have exciting news to share with you. The Commonwealth is launching a new grant program for small businesses and nonprofits called Rebuild VA. The program will provide grants of up to 3 times the applicant’s average monthly eligible expenses up to a maximum award of $10,000. The application will become available on August 10, 2020. These grants are aimed at assisting small businesses and nonprofits that have faced economic distress as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Polycap LLC, a Toronto-based manufacturer of specialty caps and closures for a number of vertical markets, will invest $7.7 million to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in the 76,000-square-foot Russell County shell building in Lebanon. Virginia successfully competed with Ohio and Toronto for the project, which will create 48 new jobs. “We thank Toronto-based Polycap for choosing to locate its first U.S. manufacturing facility and future North American headquarters in the Russell County shell building, which was constructed in 2015 to attract companies seeking an infrastructure-ready facility,” said Governor Northam. “Growing the Southwest Virginia …

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) joined officials from the Virginia Division of Mines, Minerals, and Energy in Lebanon today to announce a $3,199,553 grant to create an industrial site in Russell County adjacent to additional sites being prepared for industrial use.
